lBHUTAN AND NEPAL - SHANGRI-LA AWAKENS
Currently showing in the Janeway Wing of the library are outstanding pictures of Bhutan and Nepal photographed and displayed by world-traveler, Paul E. Myers. The Himalayan scenery is stunning and the people are inventive and lively. Stop in and view some images of the people and places of these astonishing countries. On Wednesday, June 27th at 7 pm there will be an artist's reception. Paul will give a talk and guide you through the places he has visited. There will be refreshments and time for questions and comments after his presentation. All are welcome. BALLOON CREATIONS - COME TO THE LIBRARY ON Saturday, June 30th between 10:30 and 12:30. Linda Schroeder will make you a critter, a flower, a sword or something else you might request. Pick up complimentary reading records, bookmarks and tattoos that feature the summer reading programs theme LIBRARIES ROCK! Children ages 6 through 12 are welcome to put their name and contact info in a jar for a drawing to free entry to the Rutland State Fair that runs August 14th to August 18th. KICKOFF FOR SUMMER READING AND CELEBRATION OF FATHER'S DAY The South Londonderry Free Library is celebrating the arrival of summer with a Summer Reading Kickoff and A Day for Dad’s on Saturday, June 16 at 10:30 a.m.. Join Casey Junker Bailey as she launches this year’s reading program for kids: Libraries Rock! During the same program we’ll also celebrate dads that rock by making cards and gifts for the gentlemen in our lives. As always, the program is free of charge and appropriate for children of all ages. For more information, contact the Library at 824-3371. MAY 2018 On exhibit during the month of May is a unique show of postage stamps from around the world and the United States, presented by Bill Barclay of the Vermont Philatelic Society. Displayed are Italian stamps dated from 1863 to 1927, postage stamps of Pakistan and U.S. Commemorative Stamps from 1971 to 1968. Come to the library on Saturday, May 12th at 10:30 to celebrate Mother’s Day with artist, Casey Junker Bailey. Children of all ages are invited come over to make a special homemade Mother’s Day card, crafted with love. On Wednesday May 23rd at 2 p.m. there will be a Mindful Meditation Class with Cheryl Wilfong who is a Community Dharma Leader as well as a Master Gardener and an accomplished author of many gardening books. While you are here you can check out her books GARDEN WISDOM or the MEDITATIVE GARDENER. All are welcome. Vermont author, Dean Whitlock, will be at the South Londonderry Depot on Wednesday, May 23rd at 7:30 pm. Dean will read from his latest book FINN’S CLOCK and show slides about the history behind the story which takes place in Boston Harbor in 1853. This event is sponsored by the South Londonderry Free Library and the Londonderry Arts and Historical Society.
