Chess is Coming to Derry  Every Saturday Starting on May 21st @ 11AM
We want to provide a space for both those who already love the game of chess and those who would like to learn to come together and enjoy this wonderful game! We are still in the planning stage - working on space, resources and accessibility - and the community's response so far has been encouragingly positive. Our initial focus is to introduce new, school age players to chess but involvement of experienced players of all ages is highly encouraged. This program is intended to be a FUN experience for ALL. We have started a collection of chess books and DVDs and will gladly accept donations to add to our resource collection. We have already received donations of 6 tournament style chess sets, a sturdy picnic table to play on in the garden, and a game clock. If you have your own chess set, please bring it with you so we do not run out while we are still in our collection phase. Please register by emailing [email protected], call us at (802) 824-3371, or just stop by the library to sign up. It would be helpful if you provided your general level of chess experience. We will start off by planning a series of Saturday programs and will expand as interest and resources allow. Will this be a fun weekend library program? Will it turn into an official club?
