About the Library

Our History
The South Londonderry Free Library was first organized on a cold February night in 1902 at the home of the Honorable and Mrs. Addison J. Cudworth, now the Solo Restaurant. Judge Cudworth authored the History of Londonderry, which is still a prized possession on our shelves. Over the years, the library evolved from a room at the Cudworth’s house to the Sifter Building and then to Lizzie MacAllister’s residence - the library’s present home. We are located at 15 Old School Street in South Londonderry, Vermont.  

We have over 13,000 volumes in all categories to take you where you would like to go. Each cozy room has a treasure trove of books from fairytales to current bestsellers. We have biographies, mysteries, historical novels, art, photography, gardening, nature, travel, science, philosophy, cookbooks and an outstanding Vermont collection. We are also home to the Everett Vaile Collection, a beautiful set of photograph glass plates of Vermont at the turn of the 20th century.
