Books & Media

Borrow a book, movie, puzzle, or three!

The South Londonderry Free Library joined Jamaica Memorial Library as a sister library in April of 2024. This means for our patrons that they can use their card and borrow/return/reserve books interchangeably at both libraries. This ensures that in-person library services are available and accessible to our community 6 our of 7 days per week. There are no limits to how many materials a person can borrow, but a good rule of thumb is how many can you read in 3 weeks? Any more questions? See the policy below.

How does it work?

Circulation Policies
  1. All materials will circulate with the exception of the prints located in photo albums of the Everett Vaile collection.
  2. Material will circulate for a period of three (3) weeks, and may be renewed. New books, or books having other patrons waiting, may not be renewed.
  3. The number of books borrowed is at the discretion of the Librarian.
  4. There will be no registration fee; however, each patron will be asked to provide a current, acceptable mailing address and phone number.
  5. Overdue books: there will be no fines, though a donation will be encouraged. Notice by email, mail or phone will be made to the patron when the book(s) is one (1) month overdue.  A second notice will be mailed before a bill is sent when the book three (3) months overdue from the due date.  Failure to return books may, at the discretion of the Librarian, result in suspension of privileges until all books are returned or paid for if lost or damaged.
  6. Inter-library loans will be used to supplement the library’s collection. There will be no fee for this service, although a donation to cover mailing costs will be suggested.
The South Londonderry Free Library will participate in the statewide loan network and will borrow from the Regional Library as needed to supplement its collection.
  1. Reserved books will be held for three days after notifying the patron.  Books will be returned to circulation or to the lending library if not picked up by the patron in the allowed three (3) days.
